Notice
It is with great sadness that I must inform the Society that Ian Menzies, forever known as Mingis or Ming, died yesterday, February 23, at 1100 hours. He was in no pain with his family by his side. He had been in ill health for some time but he never lost his sense of humour, cheerfulness, and will to live.
He was an ardent China Golfer. He ran our Society in Hong Kong in the nineties before returning home where he continued to play an active part in all China affairs. He will always be remembered, along with his great friend Michael Williams, for introducing and planning the highly successful North v South match which continues as arguably the most important fixture in our calendar. He could never be persuaded to be our Captain but he was always ‘ the guru’ behind the scenes. He helped me and many others enormously with his vast knowledge of golf and China activities.
He will be greatly missed.
Details of future arrangements will follow when known.
